Dennis Quaid and Kimberly Buffington filed a lawsuit in Chicago today against the drug company, Baxter Healthcare, after their twin newborns were given the wrong dose of Heparin. They were in critical condition for a while, but are said to be doing better.

Dennis' lawyer said they want to prevent this to happening to anybody else. There have been several cases of the same thing happening to other people and babies. Dennis' lawyer said that the 10 unit vial looks exactly like the 10,000 unit vial. The vials have different color lids though. Click here to see a picture of them.

I'm not a lawyer, so call me naive, but shouldn't he sue the hospital too? I mean, they are the ones who gave his babies the wrong dose? This is why I'm not a nurse, because I probably wouldn't look at the labels that closely either. That and I'd probably get fired for "testing the merchandise."

At least his babies are going to be ok, though.
